The Golddiggers had an outstanding day at the Max Marr Classic at Berthoud high school Saturday. The girls and boys teams both finished the day in 11th place at the meet which hosted 22 teams from across the state. The Diggeers had numerous highlights throughout the day, but the two that everyone will be talking about on Monday will be about Maddie Fahnline who broke the schools discus record with an incredible throw of 116′ 9″ in her second place finish and also placed 10th in the individual 200m dash. While on the boys side, Noah Sarria won the long jump and now leads 2A state boys in long jump with his jump of 21′ 5.5″. Noah also placed 2nd in the 100 m dash with a time of 11.45, putting him in the top 5 in the state in that event as well. There were other notable performances throughout the day by all of the Golddiggers with every member of the team posting personal records in at least 1 event that they entered for the day. Other members who scored for the team individually were Jenifer Mercer, 7th in the 100 m hurdles, Christine Sarria 7th in the long jump, and Ben Griffen had a high jump of 5′ 7″ which placed him 5th. Other scoring performances were the boys 4×100 relay (Gerding, Sarria, Sanchez & Griffen) placing 7th, the girls sprint medley 4th (D. Lucas, R Lucas, Fahline & S. Mercer), and 4×200 (Kish, Sarria, Onago, Fahline)7th. The Golddiggers next competition is this Tuesday at their home league meet.
